A Big Win for Hoboken Families: New Early Childhood Center at Southend Hoboken 🏙️

Hoboken just scored a major investment in its future.

The Hoboken Public School District has signed a 20-year lease for 25,550 square feet at Southend Hoboken, the new mixed-use development at 38 Jackson Street. The space will become a dedicated Pre-K and Early Childhood Education Center, directly serving the city’s growing population of young families.

The deal is one of the most significant education-focused leases in the region in recent years.

Why This Matters for Hoboken 🧡

This isn’t just a real estate story — it’s a neighborhood story:

  • More seats for Hoboken’s youngest learners, easing pressure on an already in-demand public school system.
  • A brand-new facility inside a modern development, designed for accessibility, safety, and community use.
  • Located in Hoboken’s rapidly growing south end, where many new condo and rental buildings are already home to young families.

The center is expected to open for the 2026–2027 school year, with work beginning soon on a full custom buildout.

Southend Hoboken: A True Mixed-Use Community 🌳

Developed by The Taurasi Group, Southend Hoboken brings together:

  • 110 condominium residences (Southend Lofts)
  • Approximately 50,000 sq. ft. of commercial space
  • Another 50,000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail, including a flagship grocery
  • A landscaped public courtyard designed for connection and everyday community life

By bringing a public early childhood center into this kind of environment, Hoboken is leaning into a future where living, learning, and community all share the same address.
